A "water tracker" app cannot pretend that millions of people around the world still lack access to clean drinking water. Suu's founding philosophy is one sentence: water is a human right. Channeling a small slice of Premium revenue into that mission lifts the product above being yet another feature-list app.
But saying "we donate" is easy — proving it is hard. None of the major competitors (WaterMinder, Hydro Coach, Plant Nanny) operate a public donation system. Suu wanted to do this differently.

The widget shows no money figures — only how much of the goal is complete. 100% equals the construction budget of one water well in Africa. Every one of the seven languages sees the same number: no exchange rates, no debate about the size of the cheque. The reasoning is simple: how many lira went out is our balance sheet's story, while what a reader actually cares about is how close the well is.
Every monthly bank transfer receipt is uploaded to suuapp.com/donations/receipts/ and viewable in one click from inside the widget. Which charity, which date — all visible. Only the amount field is blurred out; the charity name, the date and the bank record itself stay exactly as they are.
All donation records live in donations.json — a plain JSON file on GitHub, stored as percentages rather than amounts. Every update's date, reason, and diff is permanently recorded in the git commit log. So five years from now, the question "what was donated last spring?" is answerable from source control.
The donation system contains only the progress percentage, donation dates, and receipt metadata. No personal data (who bought Premium, when, from which country) appears anywhere in donation records — fully aligned with KVKK Article 4 and GDPR Article 5(1)(a) transparency principles.
